The Rt Rev Frederick Cyril Nugent Hicks DD was an Anglican Bishop and author[1] who served as Bishop of Gibraltar[2] then Lincoln for 15 years in the middle of the 20th century.[3] Born on 28 June 1872 he was educated at Harrow and Balliol College, Oxford and ordained in 1897.[4] From then until 1909 he was successively Lecturer, Tutor then Dean of Keble College, Oxford. In 1909 he was appointed Principal of Bishops’ College, Cheshunt after which he was Rector of Toddington and Rural Dean of Brighton before his elevation to the episcopate. He died on 10 February 1942.
