Gary Wayne Holt (born May 4, 1964 in Richmond, California) is an American guitarist from San Francisco, California. His main guitar influences are Ritchie Blackmore, Michael Schenker, Angus Young, Tony Iommi, Uli Jon Roth, Matthias Jabs and Ted Nugent[1]. His favorite bands include Venom, Motörhead, Black Sabbath, early Iron Maiden and Judas Priest[1].

He helped form thrash metal band Exodus in 1981 and he is the main songwriter for the group. After Kirk Hammett's departure from Exodus to join Metallica, Gary Holt kept Exodus going and during a lot of years, he and Rick Hunolt were referred to as the Exodus' "H-Team" guitar players.

He is endorsed by Schecter Guitar Research (he previously used Ibanez, Bernie Rico Jr. and Jackson Guitars).

He is the only member of Exodus who has played on every album.

In October 2008, Gary released an instructional guitar video called "A Lesson In Guitar Violence".

He has been a producer for thrash metal band Warbringer's second album, Waking into Nightmares.
