Gene Rardin is a Democratic member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing the 16th district. He has served since 2007.

Prior to his election, Rardin worked a diverse number of jobs including as a teacher with the Shawnee Mission District, a project engineer for Kansas City Power and Light, and a telecommunications manager. In addition, he has owned his own Career Consulting and Training Business for 14 years.[1]

He received degrees in Education and Electrical Engineering from Kansas University, and also has an MBA from the University of Missouri in Kansas City.

Rardin and wife Juanita have been married for 44 years. They have two children and three grandchildren.

Issue positions

Rardin's website lists his legislative priorities as quality education, affordable health care for every Kansan, low and fair taxes, and encouraging the local economy.[2]

Rardin has refused to take Project Vote Smart's 2008 Political Courage Test. The test, which is administered to all candidates for presidential, congressional, gubernatorial, and state legislative offices, asks one central question - "Are you willing to tell citizens your positions on the issues you will most likely face on their behalf?"[3]
