From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

George Stevenson was a Scottish association football player and manager, primarily for Motherwell. As a player, he was part of the Motherwell side that won the league championship in 1932, and he made 573 appearances for the club in total.[1] Stevenson was selected 12 times by the Scotland national football team, scoring four goals.

He became Motherwell's manager after the Second World War, and guided them to victories in the 1950 Scottish League Cup Final and the 1952 Scottish Cup Final.[1] Motherwell were relegated the following season, however, and despite bringing them straight back up to Division One, Stevenson resigned in 1955 after another difficult season.[1]
