Brothers and filmmakers Hugo and Gerardo Sofovich in 1970.

Gerardo Sofovich (born on 18 March 1937 in Buenos Aires[1]) is an Argentine businessman, TV host and film director.

He was the producer Polémica en el bar and La noche del Domingo, two of the most popular Argentine television programs of the 1970s and '80s. Sofovich also hosted A la manera de Sofovich and Sin Límite SMS, broadcast on Canal 9.

During the 1970s and 1980s he directed several picaresque films starring comedians Alberto Olmedo and Jorge Porcel. Though critically panned, these movies were quite successful in reaching a large audience.

As a businessman, he has backed major shows on Buenos Aires' Corrientes Avenue theaters.

His late brother Hugo Sofovich had a similar career as a film director and theater impresario.
