Gospel Oak railway station is in the borough of Camden in north London. It is on the North London Line (NLL) and is also a passenger terminus of the Gospel Oak to Barking (or Goblin) line. The station is in Travelcard Zone 2, and is managed by London Overground which runs all passenger trains at the station. The station opened in 1860[2] as Kentish Town and was renamed Gospel Oak in 1867 when Kentish Town West opened.

The platforms are high above street level with only stairs giving access. The North London Line has two platforms and the Goblin line has a short terminal platform north of which are two separate through freight tracks which join the NLL just west of the station.

From 1925 to 1981 the station was not a passenger interchange as passenger trains left the Barking line at Tufnell Park and descended the gradient to Kentish Town. The tracks which continued to Gospel Oak were freight-only. In 1981 the Kentish Town route became freight-only and passenger trains from Barking were diverted to Gospel Oak with the terminal platform rebuilt for them on the north side of the existing station.

Any through services between Clapham Junction and Barking would require new platforms at Gospel Oak.
