Gulumal is a movie directed by V. K. Prakash, starring Kunchacko Boban and Jayasurya in lead roles. The script is by Y. V. Rajesh. The launch of movie was done with a press meeting on April 19 at Cochin. Shooting commenced the second week of May. The movie was released on the 4th of December 2009. It performed moderately well at the box office.

Plot summary

The movie is inspired by the Hollywood film Matchstick Men, released in 2003, which further inspired the 2005 Bollywood film Bluffmaster starring Abhishek Bachchan. It is also suspected that this movie was inspired by the Argentine crime drama film Nine Queens (Spanish: Nueve reinas), released in 2000. This is the story of Ravi Varma (Kunchako Boban) and Jijo (Jayasurya), two frauds and Jijo's sister. Jijo is a fraud from childhood and his sister doesn't like his fraud works. Ravi Varma, another fraud, enters the scene. Jijo is impressed by Ravi's smartness. Both of them plan a big deal. They get idea from a thief, Bose. Both plan to fool an NRI played by Devan.
