Guntis Ulmanis (born on September 13, 1939) is a Latvian politician and was the president of Latvia from 1993 to 1999.
He was born in Riga. His grandfather's brother Kārlis Ulmanis was a prominent political figure in Latvia before World War II , and was the last president of Latvia before it became absorbed into the USSR in 1940.
