Héctor Ramón Zelaya Rivera (born 12 August 1957) is a retired Honduran football player.

Club career

Nicknamed Pecho de Águila, he played in defense or midfield for C.D. Motagua. He also played at Deportivo de La Coruña.

International career

Zelaya played three games for Honduras U-20 at the 1977 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Tunisia[1].

He then played in 7 World Cup qualifying matches in 1980 and 1981 [2], taking Honduras to their first ever World Cup.

He is most famous for his goal against Spain at the 1982 FIFA World Cup, putting the "Catrachos" 1-0 up against the hosts in Valencia in their first game. Eventually, Spain needed a penalty to equalise.
