Hajla (Albanian: Hajlë or Hajla; Montenegrin and Serbian: Хајла, Hajla) is a mountain located between Kosovo[a], Serbia and Montenegro. It has many peaks that reach over 2,000 m (6,562 ft), but the highest one is 2,403 m (7,884 ft) which is also called Hajla. In its northern slopes, the river Ibar originates, and to its southern slopes is the origin of the Pećka Bistrica river. Hajla is also the highest mountain in the northern part of the Prokletije. In Kosovo, Hajla forms part of the 25 km (16 mi) long Rugova Canyon. The nearest city to Hajla is Peć, in Kosovo.
Notes:
| a. | ^ Kosovo is the subject of a territorial dispute between the Republic of Serbia and the self-proclaimed Republic of Kosovo. The Assembly of Kosovo unilaterally declared its independence on 17 February 2008, a move that is recognised by 65 of the 192 UN member states and the Republic of China (Taiwan), but not by other UN member states. Serbia claims it as part of its own sovereign territory. |
