Hammerhead: Shark Frenzy is a 2005 Sci-Fi Channel original movie, written by Kenneth M. Badish and Boaz Davidson, and directed by Michael Oblowitz. The film stars William Forsythe, Hunter Tylo, and Jeffrey Combs. The film premiered on Sci Fi Channel June 18, 2005.
The film takes place on a remote island possibly near South Africa. Dr. Preston King (Jeffrey Combs) has been in grief ever since his son was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and he decides to genetically alter his own son with Hammerhead Shark DNA. Since sharks have incredibly strong immune systems, the result is a half man/ half shark hybrid that he believes saves his son. Dr. King then decides to take his experiment to the next level and begins to gather volunteers for the experiment and begins to genetically alter them as well; his colleagues, Dr. Sarena Mendoveko (Lydie Denier) and Dr. Jane Krause (Velizar Beniv) however are against Dr. King's experiments, but decide to go along with it. After several tests fail, in which nearly all of the subjects died because they couldn't withstand the Shark DNA, Dr. King finally succeeds and he invites a few of his old colleagues, who laughed at him years ago to the resort and spa on the island, among them are Amelia Lockhart (Hunter Tylo),Thomas Reed (William Forsythe), Jane Harper (Elise Muller), Erik Anderson (Atanas Srebrev),and Whitney Feder (Arthur Roberts). Once they arrive, they are treated to the luxuries of the resort. The invitation turns out to be a trap, as Dr. King unleashes his hybrid on the guests and almost all of them are killed by Hammerhead, until just Amelia, Dr. King himself and Thomas are left. Dr. King then takes Amelia and Thomas to his lab and he begins the final stage of the experiment. First, he inserts a chemical compound into Amelia's arm and then straps her to a glass tube which is then lowered into Hammerhead's tank in order for him to impregnate her. The gears jam, however, and while Dr. King is fixing it, Hammerhead attacks him, ripping his arm off, he then drags Dr. King into the tank and tears him to shreds within seconds. Thomas, who is standing nearby, unstraps Amelia and then they kill Hammerhead by spraying him with the chemical compounds from which he was made which dissolves his flesh. Amelia and Thomas then escape the island and blow apart the lab with explosives.
