Lee was born on 22 April 1993 in Sydney and was raised there with her brother by her single mother. She is part Korean as her parents emigrated from there around 1989, before Lee was born. She is fluent in Korean language, Japanese language and Chinese language. She joined Sydney Talent Company and began looking into a career as an actress and singer. She is currently learning the Italian language and would like to study law at some point as well as continuing acting.
As well as being able to sing, Lee has also mastered the piano, saxophone, guitar and drums. She is also skilled in jazz, hip-hop and break dancing.[2]
Previous to Neighbours, she had short roles in two films.
In 2008, Lee entered a competition in conjunction with Dolly magazine to find two new actors for Neighbours. Though Lee won the New South Wales round of the contest, she ultimately lost out to Chelsea Jones, who spent three months playing Tegan Freedman. But, producers were so impressed with Lee that they offered her the regular role of a new exchange student who would be moving in with the Kennedy family, rewriting the role to make the character Korean.[3].
Since arriving in Neighbours, Sunny has caused a stir and has struck up a relationship with Zeke Kinski, much to the disapproval of her father and Karl Kennedy. It is her fathers disapproval of this romance, that has led to Zeke leaving the Kennedy household for the Scully household as her father made it clear that the romance could continue but only if Zeke moved out. Zeke has now moved back in to number 28, but thanks to a plan by Sunny, her father remains unaware that he has done so, and the Kennedys think that Zeke has moved back in with his permission.
Lee currently resides in Melbourne, Australia, where Neighbours is filmed.
On 11 August 2009 Neighbours producers confirmed to Digital Spy that Lee is leaving Neighbours [4]. She finished filming in August 2009. Her final scenes aired in Australia in December 2009 and will air in the UK early in 2010. Sunny was not killed off [5], Lee left when her character was forced to return to Korea.
