Hart is the name of a giant sequoia in redwood mountain grove which was once claimed to be the 4th largest giant sequoia in the world, it is now however considered the 24th largest giant sequoia in the world. Micheal Hart discovered the tree around 1880, thus the origin of the name. Redwood Mountain Grove is the largest grove of Giant Sequoias on earth.[1] It is located in Kings Canyon National Park and Sequoia National Forest, at [show location on an interactive map] 36°41′38″N 118°55′08″W / 36.69389°N 118.91889°W / 36.69389; -118.91889 in California's Sierra Nevada. The tallest giant sequoia on earth (311 feet) is also located in this grove, along with the Roosevelt (tree) which is larger than the more famous Hart tree. The Hart tree is 278 feet tall, with a volume of 34,407 cubic feet.
