From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Heinrich Böll Foundation (German: Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung), affiliated with the German Green Party and headquartered in Berlin, Germany, is a legally independent political foundation named after writer Heinrich Böll (1917 – 1985). It was founded in 1997 by uniting the three foundations Buntstift, Göttingen, Frauen-Anstiftung, Hamburg, and Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung, Cologne. The Foundation's primary objective is to support political education both within Germany and abroad, promoting socio-political activism, democratic involvement, and cross-cultural understanding. The Foundation also provides support for science and research, art and culture, and developmental co-operation. Its activities are guided by the fundamental political values of democracy, ecology, solidarity, and non-violence.
