Henry Blundell (b. 1814 or 1815 - d. 1878) founded the daily Wellington newspaper the Evening Post on 8 February 1865 [1].

Born in Dublin, Ireland in 1814 or 1815 to unknown parents, Blundell worked for the Dublin Evening Mail for 27 years, ending up as manager. [2]. After resigning from the Mail he migrated to Australia with his sons and daughters in 1860 and then to New Zealand in 1863 [3]. He founded the Evening Post newspaper and operated it with his three sons [4] [5] Henry, John, and Lewis.

He was buried at the Bolton Street Cemetery [6] on 2 July 1878 [7].
