The High Sheriff of Belfast is a current High Sheriff title which has existed since 1900, the holder is changed annually every January and serves until December of the same year.[1]

The post was created by the Local Government (Ireland) Act 1898. Appointments are made by the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, usually acting on the recommendation of Belfast City Council.[2]
