"I Want to be a Cowboy's Sweetheart" is a Country-and-Western song. Written and first recorded in 1935 by Rubye Blevins, a lady who performed as Patsy Montana. Her recording marked a milestone in country & western music in that it was the first C&W song by a female artist to sell over one million copies.

Later covered by, among others, Phish, the Dixie Chicks, Taylor Ware, Suzy Bogguss, Lynn Anderson, and LeAnn Rimes. Bogguss' version peaked at #77 on the Hot Country Songs chart in 1988.
