Inside Higher Ed is a free daily online publication that covers a variety of college and university issues. The publication and jobs service, headquartered in Washington, D.C., was founded in 2004 by Kathlene Collins, a business manager formerly of The Chronicle of Higher Education, and two of the former top editors of The Chronicle, Scott Jaschik and Doug Lederman.

IHE, as it is often abbreviated, publishes several news stories, lists of new presidents and provosts, as well as briefs -- called "Quick Takes" -- each weekday. The site also includes the "Views" section, which features columns from faculty and administration contributors. Scott McLemee, winner of the National Book Critics Circle Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing, writes the weekly "Intellectual Affairs" column.

Inside Higher Ed also hosts more than half a dozen blogs, including "Confessions of a Community College Dean" and "The Education of Oronte Churm."
