From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Intermix Media, Inc. (AMX symbol: MIX; formerly eUniverse) was a Los Angeles-based Internet marketing company which owned the MySpace website. It was opened in 1998. In April 2005 New York State attorney-general Eliot Spitzer filed a lawsuit that alleged that the company is the source of secretly installed spyware that has illegally sent pop-up advertisements and other intrusions to millions of computer users.

In Feb 2004, Richard Rosenblatt became CEO of Intermix and Chairman of MySpace. Rosenblatt is credited with saving the company from bankruptcy. He restored the company to profitability and together with Chris Dewolfe and his team grew MySpace from an unknown web site to an explosive media property. Rosenblatt negotiated the sale of Myspace for $580m to Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. and consulted for Fox for six months before founding Demand Media.

On July 20, 2005, News Corp. bought Intermix Media Inc., which held MySpace.com and other popular social networking-themed websites for $580 million USD.

In May 2006, Rosenblatt founded Demand Media.
