The Italy-USA Foundation is a non-profit organization created to promote political and cultural friendship between Italy and America. The Rome-based foundation was founded in conjuction with the Embassy of the United States in Rome and a representative of the U.S. Embassy acts as a premanent member of the Board of Directors.

Although created to solidify friendship between Italy and the United States, the ITaly-USA Foundation also works to enhance American culture in Italy and improve the Italian perception of the United States. The Italy-USA Foundation partners indiscriminately with politicans of all political parties to acheive these goals. The staunchly bipartisan role of the foundation ensures that the continuing good relations of the two countries does not become a biased issue, but rather stays politically neutral. In short, the Italy-USA Foundation works mainly at a societal and not governmental level to bring together two cultures under a common goal of friendship and cooperation.
The foundation organizes meetings between Italian members of Parliament and US Senators and Representatives to discuss legislation and cultural issues. Fondazione Italia-USA also works in partnership with the American Legislative Exchange Council to ________________________.
Fondazione Italia-USA consists of a small number of administrative officers who partner with other non-profit organizations and politicians in order to conduct various projects and events to acheive their goals. In addition to the main administration, the Italy-USA Foundation retains a scientific committee, consisting of more than 30 members including scientists, politicians, diplomats, and journalists.

Italy-USA Foundation (Fondazione Italia-USA) was established on July 4, 2005 to promote friendship between Italians and Americans and bolster American culture in Italy. The foundation is a non-profit organization based in Rome, Italy. The Embassy of the United States in Rome officially attended the establishment of the Foundation, represented by the Minister Counselor for Public Affairs.
The Italy-USA Foundation often partners with a number of organizations and companies, both Italian and American, in its efforts to solidify Italo-American relations.

On December 13, 2009, a delegation of the Italy-USA Foundation met with Amanda Knox at Capanne prison on the ourskirts of Perugia. At the meeting, Amanda Knox interacted with Fondazione President Rocco Girlanda, Corrado Maria Daclon, and a number of other Italy-USA Foundation administrators. The intention of the meeting was to heal any rifts formed by the American sentiment that the trial had not been conducted fairly.
The Italy-USA Foundation promote the America Award, a recognition under the auspices of the President of the Italian Republic, Giorgio Napolitano. The award is mainly seen as a means to acknowledge and encourage initiatives and work aimed at favouring relationships between Italy and the United States of America. Among the 2009 winners Walter Veltroni, Umberto Veronesi, Ennio Morricone, Franco Frattini.
