Commander Jürgen Oesten (born 24 October 1913) was a Korvettenkapitän with the Kriegsmarine during World War II. He was born in Berlin Grunewald. He sailed with the U-61, U-106 and U-861, sinking eighteen ships on thirteen patrols, for a total of 100,007 tons of Allied shipping. In 2005 the submarine simulation computer game Silent Hunter III was released, for which Oesten was the technical advisor.
