J.B. Smoove (born Gerald Angelo Brooks[1] December 16, 1964) is an American actor and writer best known for his role as "Leon Black" on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Smoove was born in Plymouth, North Carolina, and raised in Mount Vernon, New York.[1]

He has also had recurring roles on Everybody Hates Chris and Saturday Night Live. On SNL, he worked as a writer (and had bit roles in sketches, including playing Jimmy "J.J" Walker in a parody of the 1970s sitcom Good Times) and was a recipient of the 2007 Writers Guild of America award for Best Comedy/Variety Series (Including Talk).

Smoove's films include With or Without You, Pootie Tang, Mr. Deeds and the upcoming, Frankenhood.

He had a major role for seasons 2 & 3 on the Fox network sitcom 'Til Death with Brad Garrett and Joely Fisher. In June 2008, he taped several episodes of The Gong Show with Dave Attell as one of the celebrity judges. Smoove also played different parts on Cedric the Entertainer Presents.

J.B. Smoove made history by appearing on the world's first ever two-way broadcasting station, Shovio's "Talk Back T.V." in which he was able to talk to callers and answer their live questions.
