Jablanica is a town and municipality of the same name in central Bosnia and Herzegovina. The town is situated on the Neretva river and Jablanica lake. Jablanica is a part of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton.

The mean elevation of Jablanica is 202 metres (660 ft) above sea level. Some 69% of the municipalities 301 km2 (116 sq mi) of area is forested. The Jablanica lake is an important geographical as well as economic presence in Jablanica.

In the 1991 census, there were 12,664 inhabitants of the Jablanica municipality: 9,136 were Bosniaks (72.14%), 2,253 Croats (17.79%), 573 Yugoslavs (4.52%), 504 Serbs (3.98%), 198 others (1.56%). The town of Jablanica itself had 5,049 inhabitants with 68% Bosniaks, 15% Croats, 4% Serbs 9% Yugoslavs and 3 % others.
No official census has been held since 1991 however in 2005 the municipality poulation was estimated at 13,030.
In 2005, 96% of population of the municipality were ethnic Bosniaks.
During World War II, Jablanica was the site of a successful raid by a group of Partisans led by Josip Broz Tito. A rail bridge was blown over the river while a train was in the middle of crossing. There is a park and monument commemorating this action at the site. The bridge section and the locomotive can still be seen in the river gorge.
