James Mellor Paulton (1857 - 6 December 1923) was a journalist and Liberal politician who represented Bishop Auckland.

Paulton was a journalist[1] and was working for the Manchester Examiner in 1884 when he reported on the campaign in Egypt.[2]. In 1885 he was elected as MP for Bishop Auckland. He held the seat until 1910.
