Jamie Hugo Desmond Charteris (born 1958) is a cartoonist. His greetings cards are among some of the bestselling lines in Britain.[citation needed] Including the Santa and Co range which satirizes the relationship between Father Christmas and Rudolph. His largest line, Bottom Line, is a collection of general humour cards. One of his oldest ranges, Dot, is published under the pseudonym Daphne David. Funny Farm is his newest range and is one of the bestselling card ranges on the high street today.[citation needed] Other than illustrating cards he has also illustrated a children's book for Walker Books called A Bad Start for Santa.[1]

He is the son of Scottish novelist Hugo Charteris. He now lives in North Yorkshire with his son, Felix Guy, and two daughters, Esme Iris and Ruby Rose. All three attend Bootham School in York.

Critical praise for Charteris:

"Charteris has crammed each page with comic details: elves in silly outfits (or silly situations), visual subplots and wacky messages ("Good Luck, S. C." is painted on a reindeer's haunch). It's a book to be enjoyed more than once."—Publishers Weekly
