Jan Mazurkiewicz

Jan Mazurkiewicz (27 August 1896, Lviv - 4 May 1988, Warsaw), codename Radosław, was a colonel of Armia Krajowa, general in Ludowe Wojsko Polskie, vice-president of ZBoWiD.

Member of Polish Legions in World War I. In Polish resistance he was a commander of Tajna Organizacja Wojskowa and later Kedyw. During the Warsaw Uprising in 1944 he commanded the Radosław Group. In 1945 arrested by Urząd Bezpieczeństwa, and decided to cooperate with communist authorities while trying to protect members of resistance. Arrested in 1949, imprisoned until 1956. Rehabilitated, he was promoted to general and given the position of vice-president of ZBoWiD.

Buried at Powązki Cemetery.
