Jean Fuller, Ph.D. (born April 16, 1950) is a U.S. politician who is the Republican Assemblymember for the 32nd District of California. Fuller's district includes Bakersfield, Frazier Mountain, Ridgecrest, Tehachapi, Taft, and Kern River Valley.

Fuller was elected in November 2006 and replaced outgoing Assemblymember and current Congressman for the 22nd district of California, Kevin McCarthy.

Prior to being elected to the California Assembly, Fuller served as Superintendent of Schools for the Bakersfield City School District, the largest non-unified pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade district in California.

Background & Education

Born and raised in a number of communities throughout Eastern Kern County, Fuller completed her elementary and secondary education in Shafter, California. Fuller went on to complete her Bachelors degree at California State University, Fresno, her Masters degree at California State University, Los Angeles and her Ph.D at University of California, Santa Barbara.

Community Involvement

Dr. Fuller's professional and community leadership include the Kern County Museum Authority Board, the Boy's and Girl's Club Board, Jim Burke Education Leaders Forum, and the Kern County Superintendent's Administrative Advisory. Statewide leadership roles include the California School Boards Association, Association of School Administrators and the institute for Education Reform. Dr. Fuller was named California Superintendent of the Year by the American Association of School Administrators in the 2004/2005 school year. Dr. Fuller earned national recognition for school improvement in 1998 when she was awarded the AASA Leadership for Learning Award.

2010 Elections

Fuller is considering a campaign for the California state Senate in 2010 [1]. Republican incumbent Roy Ashburn is term-limited.
