Personal life

Moss successfully battled alcoholism in the 1970s, after being sacked from Coronation Street by then producer, Susi Hush, for bad behaviour. Moss stated that she drank to numb the pain she felt after the death of her father, Reg. Moss joined Alcoholics Anonymous and had been sober since 1978.

In the late eighties Jennifer slipped back into acting in the Liverpool BBC radio soap The Merseysiders. She also worked as an extra on Brookside and appeared in The Bread Christmas Special. In the 90s she played Steve McGann's mother in Help.

Jennifer returned to guest TV shows in the late 1990s such as Live TV and Sky Soaps following her substance abuse recovery. In 1997 appeared in an episode of Hetty Wainthropp Investigates playing a nosey neighbour.

She was married five times and had three children, one of whom died in infancy and another who was born with birth defects and was adopted by another family. Moss married her fifth husband, Stephen Ramsden, in 1989, and was married to him until she died.

According to the Wigan News, Moss had been in failing health in recent years, but made a spiritual pilgrimage to India last year, where she finally came to terms with her father's death.
