Jessica Eriyo , sometimes spelled Jesca Eriyo, is a Ugandan teacher and politician. She is the State Minister for the Environment in Uganda.[1] She is also the Women's Representative for Adjumani District in the Ugandan Parliament, a position she has held since 2001.



She was born in Adjumani District on August 26, 1969.[2]


Jessica Eriyo holds the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Social Science. She also holds the Diploma in Education. She holds two certificate; a Certificate in Project Planning and Management and a Certificate in Computer Science. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Arts degree in Development Studies.[3]

Work Experience

In 1994, she worked as a High School Teacher at Kololo High School in Kololo, Kampala. Between 1998 and 1999, she was a teacher at Our Lady Consolata Senior Secondary School. She served as the District Population Officer in Adjumani District, from 199 until 2001. She entered politics in 2001, contesting for the parliamentary seat of Women's Representative, Adjumani District. She won and was again re-elected in 2006 on the National Resistance Movement political party ticket.[4] She was appointed to her present cabinet post on June 01, 2006.[5]

Personal details

She is a member of the National Resistance Movement political party. She is single. Her interests include debating, sports, music, dance and cinema.
