Jim Falk is a Professor at The University of Melbourne and Director of the Australian Centre for Science, Innovation and Society. He also holds the title of Emeritus Professor at the University of Wollongong, and is a Visiting Professor in the Institute of Advanced Studies at the United Nations University in Yokohama, Japan.

For over 30 years he has studied science and technology in their social contexts, and has authored or co-authored over 100 research papers and 5 books. His research has mainly focussed on globalisation, technological change and the environment, nuclear technology and militarisation, and information technology.
