John E. Bryson is the former Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Edison International, the parent company of Southern California Edison. He is also a director of The Boeing Company, W. M. Keck Foundation, and The Walt Disney Company, a Director/Trustee for three funds in the Western Asset funds complex, a trustee of California Institute of Technology, and co-Chair of the Pacific Council on International Policy. He serves or has served on a number of educational, environmental, and other nonprofit boards, including his tenure as chairman of the California Business Roundtable and as a trustee of Stanford University. Mr. Bryson is a graduate of Stanford University and Yale Law School.

John Bryson retired on July 31, 2008, to be replaced by Ted Craver.

In 1995 Mr. Bryson was responsible for entering SCE into a consent decree between the Sierra Club and Grand Canyon Trust over the Mohave Generating Staion in Laughlin , NV., which resulted in the permenent shut down of the coal fired power plant and displaced several hundred employees.
