John P. Calamos, Sr. (born 1940) is an American businessman and a self-made money manager and investor. With an estimated current net worth of around $2.7 billion, he is ranked by Forbes as the 258th-richest person in the world. He founded Calamos Asset Management in 1977, and won BusinessWeek's best manager for 2003 and 2004. He is also a veteran of the Vietnam War, in which he served as a fighter pilot in the Air Force. He has not lost his love of flying and often flies himself to business events. He is an alumni of Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago.
