José Alberto Costa (born 31 October 1953, Porto) is a former Portuguese football player who played midfielder.

Club career

Costa played for Académica, FC Porto, Vitória Guimarães and Marítimo in the Portuguese league. Costa was elected the Portuguese Footballer of the Year in 1979. He was a member off the squad and played as a substitute in the 1984 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final when FC Porto lost the Final 1-2 against Juventus.

International career

Costa played 24 caps and scored 1 goal for the Portugal national team.
