Joseph Harrison was born in 1860 in Cockfield, Durham, England to Thomas Harrison and Ann. He lived in Cockfield where his father was a coal miner.
Joseph married Sarah Jane Raisbeck in 1879/80 in the Auckland, Durham, England. In 1881, they lived in Middlestone where Joseph worked as a coal miner. Their first two children were born in England, and their other children were born in Pennsylvania. Joesph, Sarah, and their first two children, John and Phoebe, immigrated to the United States between June 1883 and October 1885. They settled in Elk County, Pennsylvania where they rented a home. In the 1900 census, they lived in Benzinger where Joseph worked as a day laborer. The family moved to Sandy, Clearfield, County, Pennsylvania soemtime between 1900 and 1910. Joseph worked as a coal miner there up until the 1920s. In the 1930 census, Joseph worked as a watchman at a spring works.
Joesph died in 1941 in Pennsylvania. Joseph and Sarah are buried in Fairview Cemetery in Sandy, Pennsylvania.
