Josephine Korista was born 29 September 1891 in Silver Lake, McLeod, Minnesota to James Korista and Josephine Kastenek and died 11 April 1983 in Bagley, in Clearwater, in Minnesota, at the age of 91 years of unspecified causes. Josephine married Victor Lhotka 23 April 1913 in Silver Lake, McLeod, Minnesota.

Josie’s hobbies and interests included quilting, embroidering, and crocheting. She made pajamas for her grandchildren every Christmas.

Josie was epileptic, and resided in Bagley’s Greensview Nursing Home following Victor’s death. She died in the Clearwater Hospital Bagley, and is buried in Bagley City Cemetery. Her death certificate says she died of congestive heart failure brought about by bronchopneumonia and artersclorotic heart disease. Her obituary was in the 14 April 1983 issue of the Bagley FArmer’s Independent, page 4.

Josie Lhotka

Josie Lhotka, 91, resident of Bagley, died on Monday, April 11, at the Clearwater Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 29, 1991 at Silver Lake, Minnesota to parents James and Josephine Korista.

Her marriage to Victor Lhotka took place April 23, 1913 at Silver Lake, Minnesota. The Lhotkas moved to the Bagley area in 1924 and for the last 14 years, Mrs. Lhotka has resided at Greensview Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor in 1965; seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by five children, Clarence of San Diego, California, Orville of Garrison, Minnesota, Mrs. Art (Pearl) Hopke, Bagley, Earl of St. Paul and Howard of Bagley; nine grandchildren; one brother, Irving Korista of Silver Lake and one sister, Lillian Korista of Hopkins, Minnesota.

Funeral service will be Saturday, April 16 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Bible Church in Bagley with Pastor John Heath officiating. Burial will be in the Bagley City Cemetery. Cease Funeral Home of Bagley is in charge of arrangements.
