Joutsa is a municipality of Finland.

It is located in the province of Western Finland and is part of the Central Finland region. The municipality has a population of 5,094 (31 December 2009)[2] and covers an area of 1,066.48 square kilometres (411.77 sq mi) of which 199.1 km2 (76.9 sq mi) is water.[1] The population density is 5.87 inhabitants per square kilometre (15.2 /sq mi).

Municipality of Leivonmäki was consolidated with Joutsa on January 1, 2008.

The municipality is unilingually Finnish.
