Ju-on 2 (呪怨2) is the second film in the Japanese horror series. The film was released in Japan on March 25, 2000 and was later released onto video on April 14, 2000.
Much of this sequel is a recap of the first film, nearly 30 minutes of retelling out of 76 minutes. Also the rest of the movie introduces new information on those events, and new characters, as well as briefly introducing events which would play into the two theatrical films.

As in the first installment, Ju-on 2 is divided into six short vignettes. The first two vignettes are comprised of reused footage from the first Ju-On film.
The film begins in the same manner as the last, with Kobayashi Shunsuke coming home and talking about his student Toshio with his wife Manami. This leads him to visiting the Saeki home.
This vignette starts the same way as the last, and half of it uses the same footage. Kyoko (Yuuko Daike) is coming to her brother Tatsuya's (Makoto Ashikawa) realty firm, where he asks her to see one particular house. Apparently it has had a past and he wants Kyoko's unique insight on that house (Kyoko has mild psychic abilities and is naturally sensitive to the supernatural). She goes to check on her nephew, where she finds herself watching Takeo Saeki murdering Kobayashi's wife and is then possessed by the bad energy. Her brother's and nephew's home is the apartment of Kobayashi.
The newly moved Kitada couple are home early one morning about a week after their move. Wife Yoshimi (Kahori Fujii) is taking the mail out of the mailbox when a deliverer comes. He asks her about how recently the couple has moved, and remarks that the house had been empty before. Walking back to the door, Yoshimi opens the thin package, with sender unknown. She takes out a drawing of Toshio's parents, recognizable from the first film, and also Kawamata Kayako's diary. As she stares at the diary, her eyes widen and her face becomes expressionless. Walking back into the kitchen her husband Hiroshi complains that she didn't buy Blue Mountain coffee beans, and also reminds Yoshimi that he likes his egg yolks runny. Behind him, his now dull wife strikes his head with the frying pan and proceeds to butter her toast, while he twitches on the floor and dies. In the countryside, Tatsuya has taken his son Nobuyuki and Kyoko to his parents' house. His worried mother, and now unresponsive, stares despondently at Kyoko, who has been quarantined in a room, slowly rocking herself in a catatonic state.
Tatsuya and his parents discuss Kyoko's state, the mother wishing for her daughter to be taken to a hospital and her son to help with this situation, and upon revealing that he could sense spirits as well, his father advises him to do something about his home, or he will be taken as well. The man seems to be familiar with the nature of this curse. As Tatsuya exits the home, he receives a call from his secretary, who tells him that Kyoko has been waiting for him, and asks what she should do. He immediately freaks out, states that he will be visiting the Kitada house, and ends the call.
Indeed, behind the screen at his office, there is a Kyoko-like figure, but upon checking, the secretary cannot find her. Tatsuya rings the bell of the Kitada house, and is greeted by Yoshimi, who in a normal manner welcomes him in. Once asked, she tells him that her husband is out, and prepares some tea. While she is out of the room, Tatsuya notices the drawing by Toshio, and sees the name "Saeki."
The topic has come to children, which the couple wish for, and after Yoshimi asks about Nobuyuki, a cat's meow is heard. She turns her head to the noise, and resumes her dulled expression, and slowly lowers her head (until her face is completely covered by her hair) whilst Tatsuya asks about the drawing. This time when speaking, her voice has changed and Kitada-san says that it was drawn by her son. The shocked realtor inquires about the "Saeki" part of the drawing, and once again, she tells him that her husband is out, and what he wishes to discuss. He then notices the diary and the name while she tells him that it is her diary. He tries to leave when his phone rings to answer to the sound of a cat. he then notices Toshio sitting on the couch with a phone in his hand and meowing. He drops back and Yoshimi walks toward him but her face is that of Kayako. Back to Tatsuya's parents, his father is very nervous, and tells his wife to stop staring at Kyoko. Kyoko's mother, however, does not stop, and laughs hysterically while repeatedly saying "Kyoko laughed!" Suddenly, the man hears a soft meow of a cat behind a door, and when he checks behind them, is startled by the head of a white-faced boy meowing from the floor. He falls to his knees and hurriedly backs away, while the ancestral photographs on the walls have turned to that of the face of Kayako. His wife releases a final laugh before falling back on the floor, dead, while he himself was backing up against the wall. Through the doors to the quarantine, Kyoko is seen, dead but still slowly rocking a doll.
Two detectives, Kamio (Taro Suwa) and his cadet Iizuka are coming to a former detective's, Yoshikawa, home to thank him and to investigate his sudden withdrawn behavior. Yoshikawa and Kamio were involved in the case concerning the Murakami murders and disappearances, and also that of the Kitada couple. Yoshikawa-san's wife denies them access and tells them that her husband cannot leave the house. Then the detective is shown dead while his wife sees Kayako's face on the ceiling. At the office Kayako is seen walking in to Kamio's office while Iizuka is talking to another cadet. Kamio comes out screaming, the other two go in to check things out and Kayako slides out from underneath the bench that Kamio is sitting at.
Nobuyuki is at school cleaning up with four other students. The two girls are complaining about how the two other boys are being lazy and playing catch instead of cleaning. The girl suggest to them that they should act more like Nobuyuki, whom the boys reply to the girl is creepy. Nobuyuki is shown staring out the window at what seems to be nothing in particular but it turns out that Kayako is standing outside in the rain. Suddenly, Kayako's hand slaps the window and reaches to open it. The classroom is now strangely empty and dark and Kayako is able to crawl through the window, Nobuyuki now backs away against the far wall and runs out of the classroom. Out in the hallway Nobuyuki is startled as Kayako crawls out from another classroom door. He runs quickly down the hallway while Kayako follows him in quick pursuit. Down the hallway and stairwell he runs until Kayako is seen crawling up the stairs in the direction hie is running towards. Nobuyuki runs the opposite direction again and is finally cornered when the final classroom door can't be opened he falls to the floor in desperation as not one but two Kayakos advances upon him. The next scene shows Nobuyuki, quite dead and ghastly white looking, being cradled by Kayako while other Kayakos outside the school is pawing at the windows. At the end of the scene outside outside of the schoolyard there are tons of Kayakos swaying in the wind and rain "croaking" the death rattle sound.
This final vignette shows the house once more, with a FOR SALE sign outside. Apparently some girls (possibly the same from the next film) have sneaked in, and they are doubting their ringleader Saori about the decision to come at all. They suddenly hear something, and the movie ends with them screaming. It can be assumed what they heard was Kayako in the attic, they opened the closet, and were pulled up inside.
