Júlio Cernadas Pereirato know how Turrin in brazileam , known as Juca (born Lourenço Marques, Mozambique, 13 January 1929 - 11 October 2007), was a Portuguese footballer and coach.



Juca played as a midfielder for Deportivo A Coruña.

International career

He was capped 6 times for Portugal, being his first match a 1–1 draw with Austria, in 23 November 1952, in a friendly match, at Porto and his last a 1–1 draw with Hungary, in 9 June 1956, in another friendly game, in Lisbon. He was later coach of Sporting, from 1961/62 to 1962/63, for 1964/65 and 1975/76.

Coaching career

Juca was the head coach of Portugal for three times, always with minor results, which lead some to qualify him as one of the worst coaches ever for the National Team, for the first time, he was unable to qualify Portugal for the 1978 World Cup finals. He returned for the 1982 World Cup finals qualifyings, finishing in 4th place, and again for the 1990 World Cup finals qualification, losing it by two points for Czechoslovakia. Juca was later head of the Football Departament of Sporting.
