The term junk sleep specifies a phenomenon, that--mostly teenagers--are getting not enough sleep or are falling asleep with electrical gadgets on.

While researchers are recommending eight hours, a third of 12 to 16-year-olds asked slept for between four to seven hours a night.

The term is derived from junk food.
