Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ (born 27 October 1983 in Adana) is a Turkish actor and model.

Early life

Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ was born in the city Adana in southern Turkey. He has four other siblings. He was sent to Yenice Çağ Private High School by his family where he excelled in basketball. Due to his father's ill health, they later moved to İstanbul so his father could get the proper treatment. In İstanbul, he joined the Ülkerspor sports club as a basketball player.

Career

Tatlıtuğ was recruited by a modelling agency after his mother sent pictures of him. He won the "Model Of The World" modelling pageant in October 2001. Since then, he has worked as a professional model and actor. He also hosted some pageants and shows. A turning point in Tatlıtuğ's career was when he starred in Gümüş as the character Mehmet Şadoğlu. He acted in the comedy movie "Amerikalılar Karadeniz'de 2" which was directed by Kartal Tibet. He has also starred in other shows such as "Menekşe ile Halil" where he played alongside Sedef Avcı. In his latest TV series "Aşk-ı Memnu" he stars with Beren Saat. He won the Altın Kelebek Award for Best Actor in a leading role for his performance in "Ask-i Memnu". Kıvanç dated famous actress Meltem Cumbul who is 13 years his senior early 2009, but they broke up few months later in August of this year. He is now shooting the second season of "Ask-i Memnu".

He has been dubbed "the Middle East's Brad Pitt" due to his popularity in the Arab World[1]. He was chosen the "sexiest Turkish man alive" on a poll conducted by the Turkish daily Hürriyet in July 2009.[2]
