History First went on the air in 1972 as KECY named for its partnership with the KECY television station, it had a rock and roll format until it switched to country/western and adopted a new call sign KWES or better known as "K-west" in 1982, but hadn't fully adopted "KWST" until 1990 when the famous L.A. based station KWST already seized operations. In 2000, KWST switched formats and call signs as KSEH.
