History

The station was once known as KWHO, which shared call signs with what is now KKAT. Prior to 1995, KUBL was also known as KLZX, which became a competitor to KRSP-FM and carried a classic hits format. In May 1995, the station became KUBL and the current country format was adopted. The station has since become the state's leading country music radio station.[2]
