Plot

Krish Thapar (John Abraham), a conservationist for International Wildlife Welfare, and his wife Riya (Esha Deol) are asked to investigate numerous, highly unusual deaths in the past two months at Orbit National Park (Jim Corbett National Park), the deaths being said to have been done by tigers inhabiting the forest.

Dev (Vivek Oberoi) and his friends Vishal and Sajjid, along with his extremely superstitious girlfriend Ishika (Lara Dutta), are headed out to a farmhouse for the weekend when Dev's brand-new Lexus breaks down, supposedly because a black cat ran across the road while they were driving. They are forced to stop at a nearby food stall, while Ishika and Dev's friends are eating, Dev comes and tells them he has managed to hitch a ride. While they are on the way to the farmhouse they pass by Orbit Park and decide they want to go there.

Krish and Riya run into Dev's group, and decide to journey together. But that night a mysterious force that resides in the depths of the jungle murders their guide. While the rest of the gang are away, Sajjid goes out hunting (which Dev told him not to do) and tries to kill a rabbit, the mysterious force then pulls him down beside a pond, and then the scene cuts.Krish, Riya, Dev, Ishika and Vishal go out in search of him, Krish spots him, thinking he is alive because he is in a sitting position, only to find him decapitated.

The gang decides to leave. The weather at the park is getting worse and if they don't leave they could be stuck inside for several days. While leaving, they are confronted by a group of three tigers. Almost as if out of nowhere, Kaali Pratap Singh (Ajay Devgan) appears and the tigers run away. Kaali says that he knows a shortcut through the highly dangerous "core area", but warns them against using it. They accept his offer of escorting them through it, while on the way a bottle of water gets caught beneath the breaks and they nearly have a wreck, they are forced to stay by a river until the car is fixed,Kaali tells them a story of a guide who used to lure tourists to their deaths as he did not want them to ruin the park, the administrators beat him and threw him to the tigers, they all sleep. When they awaken their driver has disappeared, but the car is fixed.

Vishal is convinced that if they don't get out they will be killed, and the only way across the river is a worn bridge. Kaali warns them against doing so, but Vishal insists. They load into the car and slowly make their way across the bridge. Halfway through, the bridge breaks and is stuck,Vishal, who was smoking a cigarette drops it on the bridge, all the others get out off the bridge and safely on to land, Vishal refuses to leave.Suddenly, the bridge bursts into flames,Vishal jumps into the river and goes into trance where he sees how the three previous murders occur.Awakened from his trance,he begins trying to make his way across the river, halfway through,a piece of the car flies off and slices his head clean off his body. The gang is horrified now and determines they must get out.

They stop by an old abandoned house for the night.Kaali warns them to stay away from the well, but no one listens. In the middle of the night,Riya wakes up and drinks some water from the well and continues to wander, the rope from a bucket grabs her ankle and drags her into the well.Krish and Dev discover her body in the well.Krish tells Kaali to collect some wood so that they can give her a proper funeral.Kaali says that it's right to give her funeral as they say people who die in the forest,if they are not given a funeral, their spirits stay in the forest.Dev becomes suspicious and checks his video camera's footage and he sees that Kaali does not show up in the tape.Krish,Dev and Ishika run away,Kaali makes several attempts to kill them, but they manage to escape. It goes forward sometime and shows Krish documenting the event, the scene cuts back to the park and shows another group, just like Krish's,with Kaali,he tells a man to get some water for the car and warns him to be careful,he is run over by a truck. Kaali ends the movie saying "I told him to be careful. But who listens? My job is to warn.Come,I'll escort you to the gate".
