Karnail Paul Pitts (January 5, 1977 - May 21, 1999) better known as Bugz, was a former member of the American hip hop group D12.

Death

On May 21, 1999, Bugz, a friend, and his friend's cousin were spending the afternoon at Detroit's Belle Isle Park. An altercation arose when a man sprayed Bugz' friend's cousin with a water gun and he took offense. A heated argument ensued which escalated into a fistfight, and Bugz intervened on his friend's behalf. At this point, a friend of the man with the water gun went into the trunk of his SUV and drew a rifle at Bugz and fired three shots at close range, he was hit in the neck, chest and the shoulder, Bugz was immediately knocked unconscious. The two men then got back into their SUV and ran Bugz over as they were fleeing the scene. Police and ambulance were called, but due to heavy traffic on the bridge to Belle Isle, it took police and ambulance over thirty minutes to get onto the island. Bugz was rushed to the hospital, but was unable to regain consciousness. The incident was caught on island surveillance and was shown on the local news. Those responsible for the murder have yet to be caught.[1]
