Kenneth Vermeer (born 10 January 1986 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch footballer who plays goalkeeper for AFC Ajax and the Netherlands U-21 team.



Vermeer began his career at his hometown club Ajax, rising through the ranks of their famous youth system. He was loaned to Willem II for the 2007-08 season. In the 2008-09 season he started as the second choice keeper behind Maarten Stekelenburg. When Stekelenburg got injured, Vermeer replaced him well. As a result, Ajax trainer Marco van Basten decided to make Vermeer his first choice.

International career

He represented Netherlands U-20 in U-20 World Cup which was held in his home country in 2005. He was the first choice keeper, the team exited at quarter-finals by penalties (9-10) against Nigeria U-20.

He was a member of the Dutch squad that won the UEFA U-21 Championship in 2006 and 2007. The team also qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics.
