Kerem Gönlüm (born 22 November 1977, Eskişehir) is a Turkish basketball player who plays the power forward and center positions for Efes Pilsen S.K.[1]

He is a regular Turkish national team player.

Doping Scandal

He faces a lengthy suspension after he tested positive for a banned substance, the Turkish Basketball Federation said on 12 August 2009.[2]

In a statement released on its Web site, the federation said the Efes Pilsen player’s samples, which were taken after the fifth game of the final series of the Beko Basketball League, tested positive for banned cathine[3] over 5 mg/ml and his team mate Mario Kasun also tested over 3 mg/ml in their urine samples.[4] Efes won the series 4-2 against Fenerbahçe Ülker. Fenerbahçe S.K. vice-president Şekip Mosturoğlu declared that this doping scandal is organized.[5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10]

Kerem has the right to request a second analysis using his "B" sample, which will be carried out at the same laboratory that analysed the "A" sample.
