Killer Instinct is an American crime drama television series that originally aired on the Fox Network. The pilot episode aired on September 23, 2005,[1] and the final episode aired on December 2, 2005.[2]
The show starred Johnny Messner as Detective Jack Hale of the San Francisco Police Department Deviant Crimes Unit. The unit's mission is to track down the perpetrators of unusual crimes within the city. The definition of a deviant crime is not explicitly stated within the show. Each new crime spree is investigated by the head of the unit, Lieutenant Matt Cavanaugh (Chi McBride) who judges whether the crime is deviant enough to be investigated by the DCU. The subjective nature of this process has led Hale's partner, Detective Danielle Carter (Kristin Lehman), to try to define a deviant crime. Despite her efforts, Hale remains convinced that deviance is in the eye of the beholder.
Fox ordered 13 episodes, only 9 episodes were broadcast in the United States, while the remaining 4 premiered in the UK on Five. The series also been broadcast in France, New Zealand, Italy, and Australia.
