The Kitsap Sun is a newspaper in Bremerton, Washington, that covers general news. It serves the West Sound, covering Kitsap, Jefferson and Mason counties, has a circulation of about 30,000 [1] and reaches over 100,000 adult readers seven days a week.

The Sun was first published in 1935 and named the Sun to compete with the Seattle Star directly across Puget Sound. Four years later, the circulation of the Sun surpassed that of its competitor.

In 1940, John P. Scripps Newspaper Group obtained control of the newspaper. It was merged with the E.W. Scripps Company in 1986.

The Sun has received numerous awards from local organizations and charities, and sponsors a variety of community festivals. Both the photography and editorial teams have won awards for their excellence.

The University of Washington Library holds copies of the Kitsap Sun from 1935 to date.
