A knowbot is a kind of bot that collects information by automatically gathering certain specified information from web sites.
A knowbot is an abbreviation for knowledge robot.
KNOWBOT is the acronym for Knowledge-Based Object Technology. The term was coined in 1992 by Ronald T. Carr of the United States of America to describe the computer-based objects he developed for the purpose of collecting and storing specific information, with the intention of using that information to accomplish a specific task, and to enable sharing that information with other objects or processes. An early use of knowbots was to provide a computerized assistant to users to complete redundant detailed tasks without the need to explain or train the user in computer technology.
