Kurrent is an old form of German handwriting based on late medieval cursive writing. It is known in full as Kurrentschrift or Alte Deutsche Schrift ("Old German script"). In American English, its name has been seen shortened to Schrift. It is distinguished from Sütterlin, a better-known font that looks a bit like Schrift, although it was a new development with several differences. It's much simpler and it was taught in schools until 1941.
